Bob Bray presents Debra Nesbit the Exemplary Service
Atlanta, GA — The Council of State Court Judges honored Debra Nesbit with its second annual Bob Bray Exemplary Service Award. The Award honors a judge, court administrator, or public official who has assisted the work of the State Courts and the Council of State Court Judges by improving the quality of justice that they deliver to the citizens in the communities they serve.
The Award’s namesake and Executive Director of the Council presented the Award at its annual meeting in May, “She and I both follow the path of servant leadership, and I am honored and privileged to present this year’s award to someone who embodies those qualities and is more than deserving of our recognition and love.”
Throughout her career and various roles in leadership, Ms. Nesbit has assisted the State Courts. Notably, during her time as Deputy Director of the Georgia Administrative Office of the Courts in the early 2000s, she was instrumental in creating and developing special treatment courts called State Court DUI Accountability Courts. The successes demonstrated in these courts helped set the stage for other treatment courts that would soon follow.
Ms. Nesbit served as Associate Legislative Director for the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia from 2009 to 2021, where she continued to promote the work of Georgia’s State Courts and its members. She currently serves the Council of Superior Court Judges as Director of External Affairs and Policy.
